Fire Pump System - Packaged Electric Specifications



This is a blank form used by engineers.

         The contractor shall provide and install a fire pump system designed in accordance with the requirements of N.F.P.A. Pamphlet #20. The fire pump shall be listed by underwriters laboratories and / or approved by Factory Mutual for the proper operation of the entire system as specified herein.

       1. The fire pump shall be of the double suction design and shall be U.L. Listed and / or F.M. approved. The pump will be designed to operate at a maximum of _________ RPM, CW or CCW direction of rotation, and will provide a rated capacity of _________ GPM at a differential pressure of _________ PSI. The suction pressure will be at _________ PSIG.At 150% of the rated capacity it shall develop at least 65% of its rated head and shall not exceed 140% of the rated head at zero capacity. The pump shall be manufactured by ITT A-C Pump. The pump shall be model __________.


       2. The motor shall have a maximum of _________ horsepower, 3 phase, 60 hertz, _________volts. It shall be an ODP with a 1.15 service factor and shall comply with the provisions of N.F.P.A. 70, National Electric code as described in N.F.P.A. 20.

       3. The motor shall be listed by Underwriters Laboratories for Fire Pump Service. It shall be compatible with motor horsepower and voltage. It shall be of the full voltage or, WYE Delta closed transition type with a withstand rating of 100,000 Amperes RMS symmetrical. The controller shall be completely assembled, wired, and factory tested by its manufacturer.
      
      4. The jockey pump shall be designed to deliver _________ GPM at _________ PSI total dynamic head. The pump will be a __vertical or __horizontal type, closed coupled to an ODP motor. The motor will operate at _________ HP, 3550 RPM, _________volt, _________ phase, 60 hz power. Jockey pump model _________.

       5. The jockey pump controller will be furnished with a fusible disconnect, pre-piped pressure switch, front mounted hand-off-auto selector switch and overload relays all mounted in a rugged N.E.M.A. # 1 enclosure. The controller will be manufactured by a fire pump control manufacturer.

      6. Fire pump fittings shall include an automatic air release valve, (0-300) PSIG suction and discharge gauges, (3.5 inch dials), and a 3/4 inch casing relief valve which should be piped to floor drain..

      7. Optional Features:
Test header size _________ with _________ hose valves, caps, chains and all necessary piping.

The test header will be of the circular type for wall mounting. Hose valves will have 2.5 " N.S.T. threads.

       8. All equipment will be factory tested in accordance with the requirements of N.F.P.A., U.L.,and F.M. Additionally the entire system will be hydrostatically tested by the pump manufacturer at 250 PSI minimum.

       9. Field acceptance testing of the unit will be performed by a representative of the pump manufacturer.
